X-AXIS is a custom motorcycle brand founded by former British Motocross racer Billy MacKenzie:
I was always interested in craft and design at high school and found it very natural, so when I decided to build and design my first road bike it was a fun and easy process. After building my first CX500 and humbled by the response it got, I decided to apply more of my time and effort into building and designing more road bikes.
After so many years of racing motocross it was a refreshing feeling to get the same thrill of riding on the road. No longer did I have to change and oil filters or wash the mud off from the dirt tracks, I could pull my bike from the garage in shorts and t-shirt and ride to the beach or over the hinterland in Byron Bay. The feeling made me want to start a brand that can offer the same lifestyle to others that love 2 wheels or even those who don’t yet…
The Honda CB750 is such a clean bike to work on, I saw examples from Hookieco and it instantly appealed to me. I loved how minimal it looked.
Our CB750 is a raw naked version of the CB model and the 4 cylinder DOHC engine is a real eye catcher. The idea behind our builds is to showcase the clean lines of the frame and the air cooled engine. I kept everything as original as possible only with the concentration on the colour scheme and the proportion.
I chose the Honda because I believe they are ahead of their time in motorcycle design, so to bring the design of the 80's bike forward to the present era was a cool thing for X-AXIS.
